Social Responsibility

Discovering ways to produce quality instant coffee, while preserving the environment for present and future generations is the most important issue for our company today.

Since the 80´s Cia. Iguaçu has been concerned with environmental preservation, when it implemented its effluent treatment station, developed through its own “know-how” and expertise from partnerships with specialized institutions.

With the implementation of ISO 14001 the company systematized its environmental management towards excellence, reducing emissions, improving the treatment of industrial effluent and providing the correct disposal to industrial wastes.

Coffee Effluents Treatment

Iguacu Coffee has pioneered in Brazil the development of a Coffee Effluents Treatment (CET).

That was in 80´s. Today, our treatment station is considered a model, since it treats 100% of the industrial effluent produced by Cia. Iguaçu, returning treated water to the environment with a high standard of cleanliness.

Despite this high standard, the constant monitoring and improvement in our facilities means that we have a process of continuous improvement in our CET, striving for excellence in wastewater treatment and the objective in the medium term is to reuse all the water from the treatment.

Reduction programme for industrial water consumption

Through this program it has been possible to reduce (until 2005) 32% of the consumption, receiving the award for the best programme for “Water Saving in Industrial Processes in the Southern Region”, granted by the Expressão Ecológica Publisher.

Coffee Growers and the Preservation of the Environment
“Meetings with coffee growers to preserve the environment” is an environmental program created by Cia. Iguaçu to enhance the awareness of growers from the region of Cornélio Procópio – PR, regarding the preservation of the environment.

The company developed several prints and distributed various guiding materials that would raise awareness (leaflets, booklets, banners).
